June 16 The Stables Milton Keynes
Sally & Steve - he was brilliant despite recent events! His voice was even better than last year (dare we say) and Lee must have been a Godsend - a great friend, support, comfort and long time friend a great mix of bass and piano - and I'm sure Bruce would have approved. We must have spent the last hour going into too much detail and the website timed out or something - trying to post our report! We're too tired now - just trust us and go buy the tickets - you won't be disappointed! We're looking forward to the Rhythm Festival at Clapham, Beford which is confirmed if not Dingwalls too again. Well done Terry !

June 17 Komedia Brighton
Elaine - What a great set Terry played tonight in Brighton including Mayfly and Hong Kong as well as a brilliant rendering of Faith to Arise. He was on top form and his voice is as good as ever. If all the tour gigs are as good as this one everyone should be happy. Can't wait for Dingwalls on 8th July. I got to meet him briefly too (have waited for more than 30 years!) Thankyou Terry and Lee. What a great night out!

June 19 Dingwalls London
David and Sue - I was born in 1956 so although i am a veteran of many, many concerts i am still prone to excitement and am known to act like Tigger when a gig is on or has just finished. I have waited 2 days to clear my head after the Dingwalls concert to see if i would change my mind but i haven`t.What we are seeing is a man at the top of his game who has the songs to prove it.I cant believe the Band had so little time to rehearse, they were fantastic. It was one of the best gigs i have ever seen.Beg or borrow the money to see him(dont steal, that would be naughty) and go and see him and see what i mean |
June 26 Robin 2 Bilston
Adrian Frombrum - 1:30 AM Re: Bilston: so good they named it once Well, I'm afraid I was way too disorganised to make notes of the gig and do it justice here. Even forgot my camera. That said, it seems Terry's stringing together a tour full of high calibre performances. I'm not sure I ever want to see the word 'polished' in connection with one of Terry's performances but you know what I mean. As others have said, the voice just gets better and better. And he seems so much more confident in what it can do these days. My heart was in my mouth on many occasions at Bilston but he pulled it all off with aplomb (what the feck's a 'plomb'?). Looks as if he's lost a few pounds too, which can't be bad. I think Lee was suffering from some poor sound/monitors so things went a bit AWOL at times. Though he played like a demon throughout. Nice to see Glenn Hughes in the audience, who got a mention during 'Rich Kid Blues'. 'Don't Worry Baby' still gets me everytime. 'Faith To Arise' and 'Seed Of Memory' seem to be firm favourites this time round. And the gobsmacking 'River' was great. Major gripe: distinct lack of hats. I want the full band next time, Terry. I'll go to Dingwalls if I have to but I reckon a bit of a subtle push on the promotion front would make a proper tour worth your while. C'mon, start showing them all what you can do, mate. Whatever, thanks for a great show. Come back soon. |
June 28 City Varieties Leeds
Pete - City Varieties Just some quick thoughts about last night's show in Leeds, at the famous old City Varieties Music Hall; not a sell out show by any means but everyone there was so tuned in the atmosphere was still electric. The show was split into two sets roughly 45 minutes and an hour each, and I'm very pleased to say Terry was in robust form; highlights included superb versions of Faith To Arise and River, neither of which I'd heard him do before so thanks for those Terry. He seemed delighted to be treading the boards of the old place, making reference several times to the fact that Charlie Chaplin had played there, and sang Little Man You've Had A Busy Day as homage to the venue. He seems to have a great relationship with Lee Miles who was working hard on keyboard and bass, the latter especially brought something fresh to the two-man format. Finished with a superb, sober, arrow-straight version of Seed Of Memory, so topical and so pertinent ('bring the boys home, get 'em back to the country') I was thinking someone should send Gordon Brown a copy of it. Terry genial in the bar at half time, lots of stuff to buy on the stall (including cd's of The Driver) and a show with some truly transcendental moments - thanks for visiting us in Leeds Terry, if you can and care to, go see him soon! |
June 29 Met Bury
Vince Black - Bury Met 29/06/07 The first proper rock gig I ever saw was in late 69, maybe early 70 in Belfast. Jethro Tull, Savoy Brown and the opening act, The Terry Reid Trio. I'd been looking forward to this gig for months, and was hoping I wouldn't be disappointed. No fear, from the moment Terry opened his mouth on the opener Man of no expression, he was wonderful. The voice was in fine fettle, and the man himself in good form, playing very well and generally charming the pants off the 110 strong audience. Having assured my wife that Terry played lots of well known covers, he didn't play any; OK, one JD Souther tune, but I'd never heard the original, and Terry's stand-up vocal over Lee's piano was fabulous. All in all a great gig, and I hope he'll be back next year. I'll be there! |
July 3 Norwich Playhouse Norwich
John kerrison - Unbelievable! I have wanted to see Terry live for 35 years and was not disappointed. What a voice! What a STAR! Email: kezza883@aol.com
Dave Preston Jul 4th, 2007 - 4:46 AM Re: norwich gig I agree totally. I had not heard of him until 2 weeks ago, when a guitar playing friend showed me some Youtube stuff of Terry. Then, lo and behold I see he's appearing at The Playhouse AND when I called my mate to tell him he'd already bought us tickets - What a voice and what an entertainer!! |
July 5 St George's Bristol
steve&mags - Any cobwebs left lingering since the last time Terry played Bristol were blown away last night along with everybody who was there. We have been lucky to see Terry play many times over the years,Isle of White,Glastonbury, lots of his more recent shows over the last few years, but trust me this was the best ever. Lee Miles not playing having to get back to the States urgently(We hope alls well)and his spot filled by Dzal Martin. Now we know they play together a bit with the band but to stand in at such short notice and to produce such a performance was remarkable, top respect to the both of them. Mags and myself turned up with some of our friends from Cardiff who had'nt seen Terry before, and all put there hands in pockets at the end of show to buy a range of Terry's cds. They hav'nt stopped talking about the show yet. To end the evening Terry sang Seed of Memory and walked off to a storming standing ovation.Well done Terry,Dzal and not forgeting our friends the unsung hero's of this rolling tour Annette & Chelsea Love, peace and respect to you all. Steve & Mags |
July 8 Dingwalls London
Keith - Gig Superb gig at Dingwalls yesterday, highlight for me was the best version of Without Expression I've heard him do. Blistering RK Blues too with Terry trading licks with Dzal who was on top form. Band lineup had changed with newcomers Jeremy Stacey - Drums and Carl Holt - Bass. Only One rehearsal on Friday but you'd never have known it , though Terry actualy sticking to an agreed set list helped. As already posted Frankie Miller in audience. Treats in store at next gig in Southend with a full band wish it wasn't so far from deepest Devon. Paul who's been responsible for organising the merchadise is happy to take orders by email if you missed the chance at a gig |
July 11 Club Riga Southend
GoodGigsVids - Terry was in excellent form once more for this performance @ the Riga Music Bar Southend last night Sunday 15th July. With withdrawal symptoms setting in this was my last chance to see Terry this year, so an outing to the seaside was just the ticket. Here's the perfomance of Waterloo Sunset for those who couldn't make it. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dODCcQ6aNtA |
July 13 Cellars at Eastney Southsea
David and Sue- Not Pompey, not Southsea ,but Eastney What a night, what a venue. In a pub smaller than my local ,Terry Reid played what may have been the show of the tour.Words cant decribe the night but i will give it a bash.Backed by Dzal he played two sets. The audience were spellbound both by the songs ,River, being a case in point and by the performances .Terry Reid is getting better and better on this tour. The new songs are very very strong,Night of the raging storm in particular.A new C.D. if you please Mr Reid and you will rule the Earth. You have two more shows to see him before he goes back,i urge you to see him |
August 4 Rhythm Festival Bedford
Simon - Having waited more than 30 years to see Terry Reid play, I have now been very fortunate to have had that privilege no less than six times within the past 20 months from Manchester to Ronnie Scott's, via Bilston, Leeds and Sheffield , but of those times last Saturday night at the Rhythm Festival has to be the very best. From the opening bars of The Frame to the closing refrain of Superlungs, it was 90 minutes of sheer astonishment and an absolute triumph of which the songs played with Mick Taylor were the highlight. When Mick left the stage for the first time, Terry said "that's the way it should be done" as if to affirm what an utter personal joy it had been. Five days after the event, Waterloo Sunset, Don't Worry Baby and Faith to Arise are still running around my brain and my only regret is that I can't fully recall the second number he played, The Raging Storm, which I had never heard before but sounded just as good as anything he has ever written. File under magnificent. |
