| Terry Reid live at The Tunnels was one of those evenings when you felt really privileged to see and enjoy an artist with a very special talent.
A few weeks earlier i received an e mail from a muso friend from the sixties,"Terry Reid is gigging in Aberdeen".Now that is a name i haven't of for some time,i remember Superlungs,Silver White Light,Friends etc.Does he have a website?Yes,he still has a lot of dedicated fans even after the passage of time, and inactivity. Will we go along, bloody right we will!
Wednesday 29 June soon came round and Tom,Nom,Ivor,John and i met for pre gig drinks at the oldest pub in Aberdeen "The Prince of Wales".
The talk was of,how many people will be at the gig, will Terry even turn up,what sort of performance will he deliver?
On arrival at The Tunnels(Below the main street of Aberdeen, Union Street)we were pleasantly surprised by the healthy crowd already ensconced and by the time Terry took the stage the place was full.
His rapport with crowd was a joy, soulful voice, great anecdotes from his long career, the songs i wanted,Superlungs,Rich Kid Blues, and of course the covers,Baby it's you,Don't Worry Baby being the standouts.A well deserved encore and it was all over musically.
Then it was photographs with fans, signing cd's and dusted off vinyl.Terry was in no hurry to leave,he just seemed to thrive on the fact that we had not forgotten about him.I honestly hope that this mini tour gives him the desire to record again and tour more often.
I and my friends have seen just about everyone of note on the music scene but this was a SPECIAL night.
Thanks Terry and come back anytime.
