The history of the United Kingdom is peppered with English - Scottish rivalry and it looks like one nil to the Scots on this occasion. Although we had the pleasure of Terry appearing at Glastonbury most English fans would I'm sure have given their right arm to have seen him at one of the smaller and more intimate gigs that Terry did on his wee Scottish tour.
Ah well they'll have to live on his promise to return in November.
Terry did the gigs with long time friend and musical collaborator Bruce Malament ( BRUCE) on keyboards.

First stop Aberdeen at a venue called The Tunnels. Malcom Strachan who saw the gig wrote "I and my friends have seen just about everyone of note on the music scene but this was a SPECIAL night "
Earlier in the day Terry appeared live on Tom Morton's BBC Scotland show, apart from the interview he performed 2 songs live. 'Too many people in the world' a brand new Terry song and then his version of Brian Wilson's 'Don't worry baby'. Absolute magic especially the new song which I hope will make a full appearance on a new Terry album. Terry keeps talking teasingly about new material if 'Too many people' is anything to go by then ther may be a new ' Seed Of Memory' in the offing.

Next stop a seemingly magic place called the Bein Inn near Perth. David at the Bein has been asking for Terry to play there for many years. Bearing in mind the scarcity of Terry's gigs I never thought it would happen but it did.
Terry played 2 gigs there on the 30th and 31st to packed houses.
Brian Hulcup's view of the gigs " Terry was superb, played for just over 2 hours and kept the audience spell bound with his music & banter "
Next and final stop was the aptly named Fallen Angels Club at Laurie's bar in Glasgow. Terry should have given them 'One Night of Sin' in a club so named. You'll see in the pictures of the gig a strange figure looming behind Terry and Bruce, it's none other than Robert Burns the bard of Scotland lending a cultured noteto thegig.

The atmosphere at the Glasgow gig is well summed up by Ian Harvey "Anybody got a bucket of water?? Terry had Laurie's Bar on fire last night..and I think it's still burning !! ". I think Ian enjoyed the gig.
Without doubt the Scottish gigs were a great success and proof of how good Terry can be with just a guitar and a single accompaniest. Making the possibility of small intimate and speedily arranged gigs more likely in the future.
The Scottish fans gave Terry such a good reception that he's no doubt researching his clan tartan right now and planning a move from Palm Desert to Auchtermuctie. |
| Songs performed at the Scottish gigs included :
Super Lungs, River, Seed of Memory, Faith To Arise, Hong Kong, Hand of
Dimes, July , Alfie, A Day In the Life (Beatles), Baby It's You (Beatles),
Catch The Wind (Donovan), Every Time We Say Goodbye (Cole Porter), In The
Wee Small Hours (Frank Sinatra), Yes Indeed I Do (Frankie Miller)
