Well guys, here's the scoop as best as I can piece
together about T.R. shows. I followed up a Mean-Jean report of a recent T.R.
live date at THE JOINT, in Los Angeles. I called The Joint & on it's tape
message it stated that on December 4th the Jack Tempc in Band played, comprising
of Waddy Wachtel, Rick-the-bass-player, Phil Jones, Bernard Fowler AND TERRY
REID. It was a free show. The pissy thing about this announcement is that this
same band (Jack Tempchin Band) was frequently mentioned on prior listings of
shows when i'd call & listen to the upcoming-show-tape. They seemed to have
a monday night residency at the club. However, the members of this band had
never been mentioned on the tape mes age until recently. I guess those reports
of T.R. frequently out & about in L.A. were quite accurate. Evidently one
had to be an "insider" to a closely held secret to be aware. Anyway, the phone
number of THE JOINT is 310-275-2619. You'll get a tape message, tho there's a
chance of finally hearing T.R. Y2K. Good Luck Mates. Oh Santa, Can I have a
ticket to Los Angeles for Christmas????????

Glad to hear Terry is alive and well and resurging. I
originally purchased Terry on vinyl and wore out 2 copies of The River. Glad to
hear it is available on import. The Terry Reid project featuring Mick Taylor and
Brian Auger sounds like ablast. I last saw Brain Auger and the Oblivion Express
at Austin's now defunct Armadillo World Headquarters in the mid 70's. Nice site!
Good info.

I was delighted to find this site! Terry Reid's early
albums just knocked me out - at a time when fabulous music was coming out almost
daily, he did stand out. He really should have been hugely popular but I think
he unfortunately got lost in the crowd so did Jackie Lomax!) But for what it's
worth, I noticed, I bought the records, and I cared. Terry's music still holds
up and I think your site is a great tribute to him and your own great musical
taste! :-)

oy laddies, since i drop in every few months, i thought
i'd impart this wee bit o trivia on ya all. There was a cover of "Tinker Tailor"
released in 1968-69 by the Jamie Lyons Group. Jamie was the lead singer of the
"Music Explosion" a mid-west group w a one-hit wond r called "little bit of
soul". The cover is very bubblegum-pop so quite bland compared to the origional.
Oh, & since i'm playing "memory lane",is there anyone on this list who has
any recollection of Terry playing at Mick & Bianca's wedding reception? Ho
did he get the gig? Lastly, it was about this time of year in 1978, i was
working at CBGB's at the door & the Plasmatics were playing. A long-haired
gent in a full length fur coat enters, he looks very familiar & tho i go
wacky trying to place the face i couldn't. It wasn' till the following day that
i decide that it had to have been Terry Reid who entered the club the prior
night. Well, was that you Terry? (as if he really reads this guestbook--not) I
regret not having been sharp enuf to have known & "comp'd" you. I o e you
your admission fee---with interest.. Sad to say that my occasional phone calls
to los angeles to "the joint" have not turned up any live dates by terry. Does
he play there on an unannounced basis?

released and I'm proud to say that I have the whole catalogue on cd now! Heard a
rumour that he was in the process of recording a new album awhile back, and I

I've loved Terry's artistry since I saw him with Lee
Miles and Soko Richardson at the Marquee just after River came out. I was just
simply done in, a brilliant gig, pure shining clean quality...and still I think
that the first side of River is one of the reatest twenty minutes of music
available, and I can't understand how so many critics call the album so-so, not
quite there etc. I like Seed Of Memory too but for real close-to feel, the
combination of that rhythm section with Terry's voice and Lindley's eads is just
plain spiritual. I am amazed that people can be so deaf as to miss it. Well, too
many people missed too much of Reid. I was working for a pop paper at the time
and had interviewed Terry (unfortunately before the gig, which raised a whole
bunch of new questions) - I think at Keith Altham's place in Denmark Street - my
memory is he'd just had some trouble with a car accide t. He was playing the
general what-me-worry rapscallion but after a short while talking I was struck
by what a decent feeling bloke. Too true for his own good I thought. I remember
him saying the thing he was proudest of on the album was the multi-layered
harmonies. I still play the records with great delight and affection. And if
there's all these demos and stuff resulting from California I would be so happy
to hear them. In fact I'm angry that I haven't. So Terry Reid please forward me
a tape or two! Yes! I am a ma or recording artist down on my uppers and you can
revitalise my wobbling career! AND you're almost a fen tiger so we have
geography on our side! Send me an email! Claim a free cup of tea in Ely. In all
seriousness I am in favour of anything that lets people know more about this
fine and lovely singer and the work he's done and I hope will do. So well done

Nice to read some stuff about Terry. I saw him play in
Manchester in about 69, he was great then, but in the seventies I thought the
River was superb (disagree a bit with you on that). I've just found it on cd and
listened to it for the first time since 1 75 and it's still great. The funky
tracks are a bit dated now (Ry Cooder/Little Feat era) but the slow more jazzy
tracks are still unique, some hints of Tim Buckley, which can't be bad. Terry's
voice is brilliant and so's the guitar track. I play a bit an write a few songs
myself and have only just realised how much Terry Reid's influence has stuck
with me, even though I hadn't realised it. bye

Hey folks, anybody who stands out vocally at a concert featuring Jack Bruce is
something to reckon with. Anyway, I would dearly love to see him again live.
Hopefully with a talented band that would allow him to use that incredible voice

Hey All, Just a "quick one" to let ya know that there
exists a TERRY REID--LIVE CD. A bootleg, I presume,that's a compilation of 12
tracks recorded between 1969-1976. Quality is good, 3 tracks source from the
KSAN radio broadcast. Looks like it was released in 19 5 and nicely documents
"da man" get'n down 'n greasy.......... I recently came upon a recording of
Steve Marriott doing "Stay With Me Baby". Suprisingly enough Steve stayed pretty
true to the origional & in fact held himself back on this recording, staying
true to his "Steve Marriott Soul Revue" style. I'd have tho ght that if there
was anyone to challenge Terry's "ownership" of that song it'd have been
Marriott........ Does anyone know the venue for the concert footage used in the
film "Groupies"?.... Lastly, should Terry start a weekly residency in Los
Angeles, would someone please notify me. Thanks to you all for keeping him in

was unlike any other at that time. His riff's and vocals showed a unique style

Terry's spirit was and still is wild, though he appears to have mellowed, quite
sweetly, with age... If I ever manage to get my own CD produced, he would be the
one I'd love to have on board... Need to go now, and explore the rest of the

I've just ordered it on CD (having previously been aware it existed) as "Terry

would certainly make effort where he ever to return to the UK (un ess I'm too

at small upper westside NYC club, Ungano’s, a few times in early 70s. The
voice!!! The look!!! Lost track of him after the first two albums which I
recently replaced as CDs. Clueless as to why such talent went unheralded. Only
Scott Muny (WNEW-FM) gave him any airplay in NY. Unaware of the interim albums,
then came The Driver, and then...A dream came true when I shook his hand when he
played the Bottom Line (Greenwich Village club) a few years ago, but was too
awestruck to carry on a conversation. The voice still there, but the show was a
bit uneven. What’s my favorite? Rich Kid Blues, July, Stay With Me Baby, Season
of the Witch... Too many to list. Waiting for him to resurface

Hoping you can forward this to Terry, as I tried sending
it to terry@www.terryreid.com and it came back: Terry, We were friends
(acquaintances?) in 1975. I was living in L.A., with a wannabe actress named
Pamela. I was working, for studio time (that I never got, incidentally) doing
carpentry at the Silvery Moon Studios on La Cienega Blvd., in West Hollywood You
came there one day, and I gave you a short tour. You were living with a woman
named Lynn (very pretty, she was) near the Leo Carillo State Beach in Oxnard. I
used to visit you occasionally, and we used to jam/hang out. If you remember, I

Thank-U for constructing this hallowed place in
cyberdom.I was disappointed that the other chap who built the first T.R.
site, evidently abandoned it.(However, it's not like there has been a storm of
activity on the T.R. front to support it's maintainance ad to say. This, despite
the large amount of Terry-trivia I once supplied him) Oh
well.................... Nevertheless, this is,indeed,a wonderful way of
remembering the greatest living (& most influential) rock singer in the
industry. Terry is & has always been a singer's singer. More than a
singer-songwriter with guitar chops, T.R.'s strength lies in his unique, at
least for rock'n roll, talent as a song stylist. Not unlike the pop(saloon)
singers of Sinatra's heyday, Terry's approach & interpretation of others'
material re-created it & in some cases lent it it's definative recording.
Terry Reid does ot do "cover songs"!!!!!!! Terry's arrrangements of
songs, obscure or classic, set his material aspin on a different axis entirely.
This, I suspect may be, in part, why it's been so hard for T. Simply put, he's
been too damn good for his own good. Which explains why Kevin Cronin, Robin
Zander, Mellencamp, Steve Perry,Eddie Money and most anyone who ever aspired to
more than yodelin in the loo, looked upon T.R as "da man". (at this point can I
state my belief that Sting owes T.R. a great, unacknowledged, debt in that he has
always sounded like he lived & breathed Terry Reid) T.R. doing his idea of
an Ella-esque "Songbook"would be sublime. My thanks to those of you who have
already posted messages for keeping the faith. And to you Terry Reid, after 30+
years, you continue to bring shivers to my skin & tears to my eyes.

Wow, a Terry Reid website !!! I was just recording my old
Terry Reid vinyl records to mini-disk so that I could copy them onto my laptop
in mp3 format and cut a CD to listen to in the car ... when I thought, why don't
I have a look on the web for any Terry Reid stuff and there it was, brilliant. I
have only read the intro so far; joined the mailing list; signed the guest book
and added a few comments below ... When I was 15 I went to a Jethro Tull Concert
in Manchester at the Free Trade Hall. The gig featured 3 bands in one night. The
band in the second spot was Savoy Brown ... but the band that knocked me out,
the first live band I ever saw (since they were on first) was Terry Reid with
his drummer and organist. I bought the album 'Terry Reid' that week. My heart
skipped a beat when I read 6 albums, I've only got 5, but then I remembered
'Driver' is a CD (relief). I was at University in Bath the time that 'River'
came out and I had ordered it at a local record shop. I must have gone in there
every week for 6 months before the damn thing was finally released. Happy
memories! but what a record, it was worth every min te of the wait. I recently
cut 2 CDs of my favourite music for an old girlfriend who lives in Venezuela
now. I only put some really good recent stuff from CDs on because they only seem
to get US chart and Latin American disco music there. I put on Randy Newman,
Elvis Cos ello, Peter Gabriel, John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck and lots of really
emotive tracks ... I put 'Hand of Dimes' on from Driver. She's coming home to
England soon (whoo hoo) probably all down to Terry ... hehe. I must get all this
website read ... Yup I saw Terry interviewed by Bomber Bob Harris on the Old
Grey Whistle Test and I taped it on a reel to reel somewhere ... Boy the only
thing that's been keeping me going in this life is that one day I would
eventually find out what the words are to 'July' and 'Mayfly'. They must be my 2
favourite tracks of all time. Well that's all for now ... I'll read the whole
web site tonight, word by precious word, thank you ... and if you see Terry,
give him my best regards. Bye. Stephen Clegg Accrington Lancashire

About time T.R. got a decent site.I've been logging onto

first came across the mans music in about 1973.My best mate's girlfriend had the
album "Most of Terrry Reid" (a re-issue of the Terry Reid album)and it just blew
me away. The only track on it I knew was "Friends",but I think the version I knew
was probably a single released by someone else. I finally got to see him at "The
Venue" in Victoria on my birthday -Jan 21- but I'm not sure if it was my 18th
('75) or 21st ('78).The man was just brilliant. I've got the 7" single of "Fifth
of july" (WEA-YZ579)which has a track called "cindy" as the B-side which isn't
on the c.d.single.I'll have to go & play it when I've finished this,i don't
think i've played this since i bought it! I've got a copy of Glastonbury on

nice site ...my first exposure to mr reid came when i
picked up a copy of 'river' in a junk shop with absolutely no idea of who he
was. (found another a year later which i gave to my girlfriend). the second side
of that album is IMHO up there with the bes of messrs Buckley, Drake and Martyn
and it leaves me drained every time i listen. The other albums I've picked up
along the way have never connected with me in the same way (tho parts of Seed of

Excellent work, Keith!- Terry has been neglected as a
major artist for far too long- hopefully this site will start a bit of a ball
rolling, and with a bit of our 'old git' power thrown in for good measure, T.R.
will get another place in the spotlight for a while. (Perhaps someone ought to
try to get him a spot on 'Later with Jools Holland' (BBC)...?) I've just watched
the Glastonbury performance on an old video- it's great to see the man in
action- he's got a percussionist with him as well, by the way- (Willie Bobo?)
and for those who care about these things, Terry is playing a Telecaster. (I
also noted the presence of men in the audience with beards so long they would be
a hazard in high winds- and yes, it does look like half a sheep, but I'm not
sure which half...) In response to the lack of availability of 'River', I
managed to get a copy via the net from 'Amazon' in America- although I doubt the
veracity of the Japanese lyric transcriber..."Am I to follow when life seems
mellow by some....gloom" etc. You will also find a wine fuelled review of said
album on the Amazon site by yours truly- why not do the same? Keep th

All right! Finally a Terry Reid site. I kept meaning to
do one but ... First saw Terry at the Miami Pop Festival back in the day. We all
went out and got his two albums the next day. Saw him again at the second
Atlanta fest (with David Lindley). Both killer shows. Flash forward 30 years to
Coconut Teaser's, a hole on L.A.'s Sunset Strip. There was Terry Reid of all
people. I asked him about those festivals and every time his response was
something like "Don't really remember that one, mate, we were really blasted."
He played a shaky show that night, ended with Simon and Garfunkel's "Old
Friends." Very touching. A few months later he showed up with Joe Walsh's backup
band and torched the place. Rock and roll never forgets.
